The collections of the National Museum and the perspectives for new collections for future exhibitions.
The National Museum was the first museum in Brazil and it is the oldest research and teaching institution in the field of Natural and Anthropological Sciences, which, since its foundation, has combined scientific production with its exhibitions. In the new proposal, future exhibitions should maintain the prominence of their pieces and collections - remaining, recovered or acquired after the fire - enriched with complementary technological resources.
The proposal is that the area of the Long-Term Exhibitions has four distinct circuits: Life and the Universe, Cultural Diversity, Brazilian Environments, and History.
It is important to highlight that the distribution of each area of knowledge and typology of collections will not be restricted to a single room or circuit. The exhibitions will seek to approach the themes in a way that is interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary, with the museum's numerous collections being presented in an integrated manner. The curatorship of the exhibitions will not be based solely on areas of knowledge, but rather on the themes of each circuit, which will be guided by the objectives presented here.
